Safety Comes First

Mediation is not for every family.

Mediation requires that both parties can participate voluntarily and speak freely. When that isn't possible, other paths may better protect you and your children.

If you are in danger

If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-7233 (text START to 88788) or thehotline.org. These services are confidential and available 24/7.

Factors that may make mediation inappropriate

  • Physical violence or threats
  • Coercion or intimidation
  • Active protective orders
  • Stalking or monitoring
  • Fear of speaking openly
  • Substance use affecting participation
  • Significant control of finances or information

How we screen

Every matter begins with a private suitability screening. Requests that mention safety concerns are routed for private review rather than standard scheduling. We may recommend that you speak with an Arizona family-law attorney or a domestic-violence advocate first.

This page is educational and is not legal advice. Mediation is voluntary and may not be appropriate for every family. Some matters may still require court filings, judicial approval or independent legal advice.
